DOWN SOUTH & MORE
Travelling down South...If you are observant enough can lead to a discovery of a lot of homey restaurants to fill your cuisine cravings for the day.
Craving for Authentic Thai Food has made my first dinner stop - over possible. Along Aguirre Rd in BF Homes Paranaque ( touted as the largest Village in Asia ) I discovered a homey Thai restaurant named Songkran.
The place upon parking , I observed, has welcoming lights in a homey ambience that reminds you of eating in your own cozy home or veranda.
The interiors are painted in earthy colors ( true to the garden Thai theme they are aiming for ).
The attendants are smiling and friendly as they greet you Good Evening.
Then the main purpose for the stop...the FOOD..
Menu stays true to everything Thai. Best Sellers are : fresh spring rolls ,bagoong rice , red beef curry, squid with garlic cilantro, thai iced tea ..just to name a few.
Curry lovers like me would surely have a fun dining time looking at all the various curry dishes .
The bagoong rice is flavored well. Not too much bagoong that makes the rice disgusting. The flavor is mixed well and I must say authentic in it's Thai origins.
I was glad to taste the fresh spring rolls, with just that : fresh lettuce and ingredients that is soft to every bite.
The curry dishes can be adjusted to your taste of preference from sweet and spicy to super flaming hot that makes you sweat . The authenticity can be accredited to the Thai chef that fixes up the meals for the clients.
Beef is tender and cooked right. Thank God .
Prices are also reasonable, from P 145 -P 300 per dish. every dish serves at least two persons so I must say prices aint pricey and is affordable.
It is not a place you go to for fine dining though if ambience is something you truly prioritize in your choice of dining spots.
But all in all, great Thai food with reasonable prices....Songkran IS A MUST TRY if you are within the area.
